What I Wish I Knew Before Starting My Consulting Practice
Feb 10, 2026
After 10+ years of advising women entrepreneurs, I still learn something new every week. Here are the lessons I wish someone had shared with me when I started my consulting practice.
Credibility takes time
Your expertise is real, but clients need to see it in action. Start with a few pro bono or low-cost engagements. Case studies and testimonials will become your best marketing.
Boundaries are non-negotiable
Set clear scope, timelines, and communication expectations from day one. It protects both you and your clients and prevents burnout.
Stay curious
Every business is different. Listen more than you talk in the first few sessions. The best advice is tailored, not generic.
